This is Alife, a small town in the Province of Caserta, Italy.
I took 917 photos (740 excluding deleted ones) over the course of the 2 weeks I was there, the most I have ever taken in 1 place.
Every August in Alife, they celebrate 'San Sisto', the Pope of Rome who travelled to Alife on a donkey when the population was dying from illness. He supposedly cured the ill and the town have been celebrating him since he died. They carry a large statue made of gold and silver* through the town, guided by a path made of various plants. They also put up lights throughout the town and do firework shows the night before San Sisto's statue is carried around the town.
*The original statue was made entirely of gold, but was stolen and had to be remade, and they didn't have enough money to make it completely out of gold.
Fireworks the night before the celebration day. (They looked much better in person)
San Sisto's statue being carried out of the church.
The flower paths.
A bigger firework show on the night of the main celebration day.
