A woman’s cycle is a beautiful rhythm of four distinct phases: Follicular, Ovulatory, Luteal (often referred to as PMS), and Menstrual phases. You can think of these phases like the four seasons of the year, each bringing its own unique changes and qualities. Your body moves through these phases in a beautifully orchestrated way, impacting everything from mood and energy levels to food cravings, metabolism, sleep patterns, and even social interactions.
While men only experience the daily ebb and flow of the 24-hour circadian rhythm, women have a secondary 28-32 day rhythm called the infradian rhythm. Sadly, society has conditioned us to live by the male-leaning 24-hour cycle, leaving us out of sync with our own natural rhythm. While both rhythms are crucial for overall health and wellness, it’s important to recognize that the infradian rhythm plays an equally vital role in our well-being.
For too long, women have been encouraged to function the same way men do, but this approach doesn’t honor the special, God-given nature of womanhood. If we truly believe that women play a unique and sacred role in life, we must begin treating ourselves accordingly, embracing our natural cycles instead of viewing them as inconvenient or burdensome.
By aligning our lives with this rhythm, we can use each phase to our advantage. This isn’t just about physical health—it's also about spiritual balance. When we understand our bodies, we can nourish them more effectively, adjust our social interactions to match what feels most natural, and even incorporate prayers or spiritual practices tailored to each phase. With guidance, we can strengthen our connection to Christ and honor our femininity as we navigate these weekly changes.
As someone who has walked this journey of discovery and healing, I’m here to guide you along the same path—one that has been deeply transformative and restorative. Let’s break free from the misconceptions and truly embrace the gift of our cycles, finding peace and strength in the beauty of Christ-centered womanhood.
