In addition to hiking, our scouts are given an opportunity once a year to go:
Rock Climbing at Joshua Tree National Park, made possible by parents who undergo BSA Rock Climbing training courses and are certified.
Summer Camp. Once a year, scouts have an opportunity to enroll in a weeklong BSA summer camp program that provides opportunities to earn merit badges in activities they may not have with their scout troop back home, which may include canoeing, archery, pottery, rifle, scuba diving, and so much more. It also gives the scouts an opportunity to bond, and build teamwork at these sleep-away camps.
Family Camp: The troop annually goes on a family camp, car camping and cooking together, and just having fun while enjoying the outdoors. Some locations have included Malibu Canyon, Carpinteria Camp Grounds, Death Valley (for scouts to earn the "High-Low" patch, they hike in the lowest location and highest location when the long-term hike is scheduled for Mt. Whitney) and Calico Ghost Town.
