The man who is blind to the beauties of nature has missed half the pleasure of life - Lord Baden Powell
While scouting has evolved over the years, camping still remains an integral part of the program. Troop 37 organizes at least eleven campouts a year, most of which are outdoors. Our January ski trip and February Wimp-out are held indoors at a cabin.
To help scouts prepare for campouts, they should refer to this camping checklist.
Special campouts, such as Owasippe Summer Camp, will have a separate checklist provided at the time of the event.
Since this is the midwest, and the weather temperatures can be extreme, all scouts should be prepared to camp in cold weather. Please see our page on Cold Weather Camping for more information.
Two Troop 37 scouts have earned their 12 Month Camping Award, which required camping outdoors at least one night a month, regardless of the weather. The form for the 12 Month Camping Award can be found here.
