Our Mission Statement
We are a Scout-Led troop serving Arlington Heights and neighboring communities as a part of the Five Creeks district in the Pathway To Adventure Council. We believe in the principle that the troop belongs to the Scouts. Troop 37 is led by the Senior Patrol Leader (the highest Scout held position) and the Scouts who are elected by their peers. The adults are mentors who provide guidance and oversight so that the Scouts will have a safe program that adheres to the Guide to Safe Scouting.
Through this philosophy, the Scouts learn to become independent leaders who can use the life skills gained through Scouting in all aspects of their lives. Each Scout will learn to become an effective leader by performing the duties of the leadership positions he holds as he moves through his Scouting career.
The decisions regarding the outing of the troop, the structure and activities of a troop meeting, and the events in which the troop participates are all determined by the Patrol Leaders Council, which is typically held the Monday immediately following an outing. All scouts are invited to participate, but Patrol Leaders are expected to attend.
We are an active troop and hold at least one outing a month. This may include camping, canoeing, a lock-in or some other sort of fun. We typically go skiing in January and have a Wimp-out (an overnight stay at a cabin) in February. We traditionally attend the 5th week of Camp Blackhawk, located at Owasippe Scout Reservation in Twin Lakes, Michigan. Please view our pictures page to see some of our most recent outings!
