Troop 1 offers all the traditional leadership and training provided by the Scouts BSA, plus our own Pre-Adult Program of added activities to further develop scouts’ critical thinking and maturity-building skills. Troop 1 is a year-round program for boys and girls ages 11 to 18.
We meet every Friday (6:30 PM - 8:30 PM) and Sunday (9:30 AM - 1:30 PM) Please contact us if you have questions or would like to sign up for our Troop.

We get experienced scouts who have been through the college process to talk with our scouts about what to expect.
Each year only 4% - 6% of U.S. scouts attain the highest scouting rank of Eagle Scout by completing the national requirements BEFORE age 18. Since re-chartering in 2014, 100% of the scouts who stayed in our Troop have obtained Eagle Rank before turning 18.
Nationally scouts earn about 25 merit badges during their scouting years however Troop 1 scouts averages 35 merit badges, with the maximum so far at 53 badges.
One scout is awarded the Troop 1 Scout of the Year Patch and another scout from Troop 2001 for outstanding service, growth, and retention of information from our Pre-Adult Program.
We encourage scouts to think critically about current events. Some of the topics discussed: Technological advancement, global news, political participation.
The Troop spends about 10 minutes every Sunday doing exercises and also learn how to eat and stay healthy for their entire life.
Real-life situations and conflicts for scouts to discuss and evaluate on friends, lifestyle, and family.
During the pandemic, we made cooking kits with prepackaged and safe to cook organic food for scouts to learn how to cook, however now that we're back in person, our scouts cook every other Sunday preplanned food by our leadership team.
During or near Summer, our Troop goes out and performs service projects for our community. Our most recent project was the Rainbow Log Project where we helped RLS Elementary prepare for reopening and sanded then painted wooden logs for students to sit on for social distancing.
In the week of Chinese New Year, our Troop gets together and everyone is recognized for their achievements and presents a small presentation on the history of Chinese New Year. We also make dumplings and other Chinese dishes to share with our families
We even have a dumpling making contest, the tastiest dumpling wins!
Our Troop participates with many other Bay Area troops at the Presidio of San Francisco Cemetery to plant flags on military graves in preparation for Memorial Day.
A get-together before returning to the one job all of our scouts have – To Do Well In School.
In Fall 2019 the Scouts will have an overnight camping trip to Grant Park in San Jose, CA to cook outdoors and participate in a guided tour of the night stars.(Currently Unavailable Due to Corona)
Patrols compete to design and execute the carving of a large pumpkin. 1 pumpkin is given to each patrol and it is up to your teamwork to cut the best pumpkin. The best-looking Pumpkin wins a cool-looking badge.
A family end of the year celebration to award some of the 135 possible merit badges and for scout rank advancements to recognize our scout's hard work this year.
Scouts earn merit badges as well as go horseback riding, learn to swim, look at the stars, shoot a rifle, archery, and even wilderness survival!
In 2019 Troop 1 won first place in the baseball throw and second place in the Limbo Dance contests. Some scouts also earned the Polar Bear Award, which meant going swimming at 6:30 A.M.

We conduct an overnight indoor camping event to allow scouts to share the latest video game and computer technology. (Video games and phones are prohibited during regular formations.)
Every month. we have at least 1 hiking trip planned by our parent committee and leadership team that have hikes throughout SF. Some may be along the beach, some in downtown, and some in designated locations.
