Ski Trip to Shawnee and Camping at Resica: Friday, January 24 – Sunday January 26
Location: Resica Falls Camp Reservation, Shawnee Mountain Ski Area
Departure time: 6 pm on Friday Night from the Scout Cabin
Approximate Return Time: 11 am back to the Scout Cabin
We have rented a Cabin at Resica Scout Reservation, however, any scouts that want to brave the cold weather and try true COLD WEATHER tenting are welcome to set up tents outside. We will get up early on Saturday and drive over to Shawnee for a day of skiing. Shawnee is about a 15 min drive from Resica, so we should be able to ski/snowboard/tube from 9 am to 4 pm. After skiing, we will head back to our cabin to spend Saturday night before coming home on Sunday. Return home to Scout Cabin around 11 am on Sunday. Patrols will be responsible for cooking breakfast on Saturday and Sunday and dinner on Saturday.
Everyone should bring money to purchase lunch on the mountain on Saturday. Scouts are responsible for the own dinner on Friday night. Scouts are welcome to bring their own skis, snowboards and boots, or they can rent from the mountain. Helmets are mandatory.
Scouts can also earn the Snow Sports Merit Badge by working with Mr. Evans, Mr. Kozielec and Mr. Williams.
Klondike Derby: Friday, February 7 - Sunday, February 9
Location: Musser Scout Reservation, we are sleeping in the Castle Rock Cabin (same one as last year)
Departure time: 6 pm on Friday from the Scout Cabin
Approx. Return time: 10 am back to the Scout Cabin
Uniform: Class A's for trip to and from Musser, Class B's while participating in Klondike
Cost: $20 (includes Cabin rental, Klondike patch and Saturday dinner)
Bring: Winter Clothes (jacket, hat, gloves). Appropriate Footwear for mud and snow. Gear for your sled (as assigned by your patrol leader)

Notes: I need to know who is sleeping over on both days and who is only coming for the day. We also need adult volunteers to drive, to help run our station during the day on Saturday, and of course to stay over with the scouts.
First Aid Meet: Saturday, March 1
Location: Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1000 W. Main St, Lansdale
Departure time: Meet at the church at 8 am
Approx. Return time: Pick up at church around Noon.
Uniform: Class A
Cost: $10, includes patch and snack during the meet
Bring: Scoutbook
Deadline: Thursday, Feb. 20
Scouts should be dropped off and picked up at Trinity Lutheran Church. Parents are welcome to stay and watch, but be prepared, they may put you to work!
National Constitution Center Scout Day: Saturday, March 15
Location: National Constitution Center, 525 Arch St, Philadelphia, PA
Departure time: Meet at the cabin at 8 am
Approx. Return time: ~4PM at the cabin
Uniform: Class A
Cost: $20 for Scouts, $18 for Adults
Bring: Bagged lunch

With the National Constitution Center, Scouts can enjoy an action-packed day full of programs and activities! Special workshops for Scouts will explore the meaning of citizenship, and highlight the history and meaning behind the American flag – including lessons on proper flag etiquette. Scouts can earn their Citizenship in the Nation (Eagle Required), Law, and American Heritage badges at customized programs, including interactive trivia games, Q & A sessions with legal experts, law enforcement officers, and more!

Crossover Camping Trip: March 28 - March 30

Departure time: 6 pm on Friday from the Scout Cabin

Uniform: Class A's for travel, Class B's for the day
Cost: $15 (includes site rental)
Bring: Winter Clothes (jacket, hat, gloves). Appropriate Footwear, Scoutbook, pocket knife, camping gear (General Camping Equipment List)

We have rented a cabin and an Adirondack site.
Scouts will have the option of sleeping in the heated cabin (crossover scouts get first dibs), or in Adirondacks or in tents.
Stream Cleanup Saturday, April 12
Location: Parking lot in front of Giant.
Departure time: Meet at Giant at 9 am
Approx. Return time: Pick up at Giant at 11 am
Cost: Free
Bring: Work gloves, wear clothes and boots to get muddy
Other details: This counts as 2 hours of conservation service

Scout Skills Weekend at Resica April 25 – 27
We will be camping up at Resica Falls Scout Reservation this weekend. Scouts will have a lot of activities to choose from.
1. Scout Skills Competition – Sleeping in a self-built wilderness survival structure, competing in an Outdoor Cooking competition (a la Iron Chef)
2. Shooting 22’s at the Rifle Range (assuming we can get it open) – extra cost $10
3. Fishing and earning the Complete Angler Award. – extra cost $50
Location : Resica Falls Scout reservation
Departure Time: 530 pm on Friday
Return Time : 3 pm on Sunday
Class A’s for Travel, Class B’s the rest of the weekend.
Cost: $10 for camping, $10 dollars for Rifle Range, $50 for Angler badge workshop

Spend the weekend at Resica Falls Scout Reservation fishing and earn the Fishing, Fly Fishing and Fish and Wildlife merit badges. Those scouts earning all three will receive* the Complete Angler Award with the patch they can wear on their uniform. The weekend starts on Friday evening at 8 pm and finishes on Sunday afternoon at 2.
The fee is $50 for the weekend which includes materials for tying flies
By the end of the weekend session, Scouts should be able to complete most if not all of the requirements for the 3 merit badges. After the weekend Scouts will make a presentation on fishing to their troop, pack or crew.
Prerequisites: Willing to complete some requirements on their own so that the fish & wildlife requirements can be signed off during the weekend.

All equipment will be provided. Scouts are welcome to bring their fly fishing equipment or spin cast rods if they want. Hip boots or waders are optional but not necessary for the weekend.
Appalachian Trail Overnight Camping and Hiking, Friday, May 16 to Sunday May 18
Location: On the Appalachian Trail, close to Harper's Ferry
Departure time: 5:30 pm on Friday from the Scout Cabin
Approx. Return time: 3 pm back to the Scout Cabin
Uniform: Class A's for trip to and from camp, Class B's while hiking
Cost: $20 (includes Campground rental)
Bring: Hiking Gear (tent/hammock, sleeping bag/pad, boots, water, hat, sunscreen, etc)

There will be two hikes offered.
Hike A for experienced hikers will be approx. 8 miles on Day 1 and 11 miles on Day 2.
Hike B for beginners and younger scouts, will be 5 miles on Day 1 and 6 miles on Day 2.
Scouts will be responsible for bringing and carrying their own food and water. Our hikes will end in Harper's Ferry, where there will be an opportunity to buy ice cream. We will also stop for lunch on the way home, so you will need to bring money to buy lunch.
More info will be shared at Troop meetings and guidelines for what to pack will be discussed as well.
Appalachian Trail Signup
Beach Camping and Salt Water Fishing Trip, June 6 – 8
We have reserved a group camping spot at Cape Henlopen State Park in Lewes, Delaware. We will be camping right at the beach. Plan to bring your bike to ride the trails around the park. Mr. Kozielec is going to bring his surf casting fishing poles and show us how to fish off the beach.
We are also going to charter a Head boat out of a nearby pier to go out and do some salt-water fishing for anyone interested.
Cost: $15 per scout for camping
Additional Optional Cost: $100 (13 and older) / $80 (12 and younger) for the salt-water fishing charter (includes fishing gear rental)
Deadline to sign up for fishing chart is May 1, and limited to first 25 paid participants
Departure: 530 pm from the Scout Cabin on June 6.
Return: Noon to the scout cabin on June 8
Bring: Class A’s for travel, standard camping equipment, bike (optional), bike helmet, beach gear (towel, swimsuit, chair, water bottle, sunscreen, hat, etc)

Both our troop and Cradle of Liberty have camperships available for families that need them, just reach out if you have questions.
We need to know which adults are interested in attending and how many scouts they would be able to drive up and back to camp. If there are 2 adults that would be interested in splitting a week, that would be possible. We will most likely need people that are willing to drive, but might not be able to stay over.
