As taken from the Girl Scouts Brownie handbook...
In 1912, a woman named Juliette Gordon Low, called her cousin Nina, the principal of a girls' school in Savannah, Georgia. Juliette invited her over. Juliette, nicknamed Daisy by her family, had a great idea. She wanted to start an organization just for girls. Daisy got this idea from her friend Robert Baden-Powell. In 1910, he and his sister Agnes started Boy Scouts and Girl Guides in England.
The first group of Girl Scouts met on March 12, 1912. There were 18 members, divided into two group. Daisy wanted her Girl Scouts to go camping, enjoy nature, and play sports - things many girls and women were not supposed to do back then. And they did!
In the first Girl Scout handbook, girls could find instructions for how to stop a runaway horse and hot to tie up a burglar with eight inches of cord.
Ever since, Girl Scouts have been having great adventures while helping others, learning amazing skills, and making the world a better place. Not it's you turn!

My Promise My Faith allows girls to align their Girl Scout experience to their personal faith. Girl Scouts USA's requirements are non-denominational, and can be applied to any faith. A pin can be earned every year, and do not need to be consecutive. Pin color varies by Level.
