Engaging in Community Service provides all Scouters the opportunity to be active members of their community, developing lasting and positive impacts on society at large. Volunteer Service enables Scouts to acquire life skills and knowledge, as well as provide to those in need. Scouts and service have always been closely aligned in the Scouting Movement.
Troop 533 service activities tie to Eagle Scout Leadership Projects and Community Organizations. For a list of upcoming events that have been scheduled, please visit the Troop Calendar.

The Missouri Youth Leadership Association (MYLA) is also a certifying organization for The President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA). This award can be earned by both Scouts and adult members each year. The certification year runs September 1st- August 31st.
The PVSA recognizes United States citizens and lawfully admitted permanent residents of the United States who have achieved the required number of hours of service over a 12-month time period. Recipients earning this distinction receive a PVSA pin, a certificate of achievement signed by the President of the United States, and a congratulatory letter from the President. Awards may be showcased on college applications.
There are three levels based on the volunteer’s age and the number of hours earned during a one-year period beginning September 1st and ending August 31st of the following year. Hours are measured over a 12 month period and awards are designated based on cumulative hours.
The awards are offered in multiple levels and designed to recognize each milestone of your service achievement. Levels include bronze, silver, gold and the highest honor, the President’s Lifetime Achievement Award for those who contribute more than 4,000 hours of service in their lifetime.
How to Get Started:
Scouts in Troop 533 log their volunteer hours online in Scoutbook. Scouts not in Troop 533 may also be recognized by MYLA and should contact MYLA to ensure a proper log of one's hours is used.
Award Recognition:
MYLA will host or attend Troop 533's appropriate award ceremony each year to honor and recognize a scout's service achievements.
