Local/Regional/National Self-Organized Adventures - Across our Nation or right here in Missouri, anything is possible. The BSA Outdoor Adventures offers endless areas and ideas for HAs, including Order of the Arrow, BSA Outdoor Program Properties, BSA International, National/Int'l Jamborees, and the above 4 primary programs.
Participation requirements may vary for given adventure programs, and in general require that all youth be 14 years of age (13 for Sea Base), a registered Scouter, and adults having completed YPT, reviewed the BSA Guide to Safe Scouting, and additional requirements that will be communicated by the Adventure Adult Leader. In all cases, participation requires participants to be both physically and emotionally prepared.
16 Day Adventure including a 12 Day Trek of 54+ miles in the Rocky Mountains private BSA Philmont Scout Ranch of New Mexico. 2 Backpacking Crews of 12 Backpackers traveling as Troop 533 Philmont Team will trek across the Southwest by Train to New Mexico (2 days), check into "The Ranch" and leave for a 12 day Trek until traveling home by Train, 2 days. 8-23 July, 2022.

Being physically fit for this adventure is a must - planned activities such as hiking and canoeing will be held, including carrying ALL your personal gear and food, and at times your canoe across land
Having the right gear - if you have gone to Philmont, much of what you brought/used there will be the same here. Waterproofing will be fundamental. Further review of gear/equipment requirements will be shared.
Summer in North Americas Canoe Country is a time like no other. With lakes stretching as far as the eye can see, all connected through a large web of waterways, Scouts travel effortlessly across in specially designed, Kevlar tripping canoes. Completing short portages between waterways brings scouts from lake to lake as they explore the vast biodiversity of the Northern Boreal Forest unique to Northern Minnesota and Canada.

2020: Colorado Rocky Mountains, fun filled days of adventure camping and activities in the Colorado Rocky Mountains. Was planned for Philmont Backcountry Cavalcade, Horseback - 8 day trek, 38 miles in the saddle.... due to COVID-19

Prior to 2016 - Individual scouts participated in BSA and Local High Adventures, with no primary record of adventures kept. Last "Philmont Trek" was 10+ years in mid 2000's.
