Our History
Trinity International School of Theology began as a collaborative discipleship experiment. In 2023 Rev. Neal was serving as senior pastor when one person within his congregation felt the call to missions work overseas. What began as a single conversation soon developed into a joint discipleship path between Soli Deo International Church in Halle, Germany, and Trinity E.C. Church in Terre Hill, United States. With both pastors offering their own expertise Nick Eberly embarked on what would be the first discipleship experience.
Soli Deo Freie Evangelisch-Mennonitische Gemeinde is a international church offering a place for missionaries to serve and train under the church’s own existing program the “School of Ministry”. A practical hands-on program for missionaries and interns taught by the leadership team at Soli Deo.
Trinity Evangelical Congregational Church is a small community church located in the town of Terre Hill. While serving as the senior pastor Rev. Neal was also publishing research as an independent scholar and theologian within the Knowledge Commons network. Through this new discipleship collaboration Rev. Neal soon developed his own "School of Theology" program to help compliment the "School of Ministry" program and deliver a holistic approach to the missions work being done between the two churches.
Soon after those interested in missions began to express interest in deepening their faith through a more structured discipleship program, thus Trinity International School of Theology was formed.
Our goal was and remains steadfast. We are here to help equip those who want to deepen their faith, expand their theological knowledge and use their gifts to serve others. Our model is one of discipleship, using both innovative distance learning and mentoring alongside the traditions found in Jesus own teaching of his disciples as the foundation. Together we embrace the call of the "Great Commission" Matthew 28:16-20, by helping to equip servant-leaders to "go and make disciples".
While our programs of study are inter-denominational, we affirm the historic creeds as our center of our orthodoxy and a broad tradition of evangelicalism to reach the world.
At the heart of our theological and missional community lies a commitment to the gospel message, a heart for the lost and a foundation rooted in scripture and discipleship. We draw from the deep well of wisdom from the early Church Fathers all the way through to modern apologetics ministries.
We also affirm the essential doctrines of the Christian faith, anchoring ourselves in the unchanging truths that have stood the test of time as seen in the ecumenical and historic creeds such as: the Apostles' Creed and the Nicene Creed.
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried; he descended into hell;
on the third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty;
from there he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic [universal] Church,
the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
