HOW IT WORKS:
This site is dedicated to the professional development of Navy League Officers based in Ontario.
Below is some important information to set you up for success!
ENROLLMENT
Ontario based Navy League Officers will be able to register online for our courses. The registration for your choice of courses will be open one month before the course. Be sure to visit the course schedule here and plan accordingly.
SUCCESSFUL COURSE COMPLETION AND GRADE
You must attend the course you registered in, submit the required pre-course package signed by your Commanding Officer and complete the required examination with a pass mark greater than 80% to be considered as having successfully completed the course. Once completed, you will be issued a Certificate of Completion. However, this does not qualify one for promotion. In order to be promoted, a trainee must have successfully completed the course for which they applied for, have put in the required time in rank in accordance with NL8 and fill out the NL 304, signed by the branch president to qualify for promotion.
ACADEMIC INTEGRITY
Our courses are designed considering the requirements and challenges our officers face, balancing cadets, career and family. However, integrity is a requirement in order to lead the youth. Breaches will be reported to the Commander and Ontario Division.
DRESS AND DEPORTMENT
We ask all trainees to wear:
Summer Dress (Salt and Peppers): Mid-March - to early November
Winter Dress (Long sleeve shirt, tie, sweater, rank slip-ons): Early November to mid-March
ON-LINE SET UP
Software - Our on-line meetings will be hosted on Microsoft Teams. For a better experience we recommend downloading the app both on your computer or phone.
Location - Be mindful of others during on-line meetings. Please find a quiet space and keep your microphone muted unless you are addressing your class, answering or asking questions.
Background - Pay attention to your background! We can see everything! Make sure that what is in your background can be seen by others.
Lighting - It is important to have a good lighting source illuminating your face so we can see you!
Sound - Earphones work best. If you cannot use them, please speak loudly and clearly and avoid rooms that can produce echo! (And remember to keep you microphone on mute when not speaking)
Food/ Beverages - When on camera, it may be acceptable to have a drink with you (coffee/ tea/ water/ juice). Avoid eating in front of the camera.
Questions/ Chat - When asking questions, please use the emoticons available at your controls or pose a question on the chat. Keep in mind that everyone can read your question and replies!
