My Website offers philosophical insights on today’s changing world. I invite you to reflect on questions like:
What visions do we share for our collective future?
How do we balance humanity with accelerating technological advancement?
What truly defines us as human beings?
How should we understand “nature,” and what is our place within it?
Where do ethics originate, and how do they shape our moral choices?
What role does spirituality play in modern life, and how does it guide our understanding of the world?
As we witness sweeping transformations and the emergence of a global society, it’s ever more important to examine the foundations of this evolving new civilization. I hope these questions spark dialogue and encourage deeper thought about the path we’re all taking together. Here are some of my essays:
I created this website to bring together my diverse interests, examine my own traditions, and explore enduring philosophical questions. The brief texts you’ll find here were written over the past three decades, reflecting my evolving insights over time. I’ve also included select writings from various authors that I use for teaching and reference; they’re conveniently organized by topic into small, self-contained sections, all accessible through the main menu. Most of the pictures on this site are my own.
If you prefer quick reading, feel free to start with my collection of short quotes and curated insights. I also maintain a blog, "Heterologies: Unconventional Wisdom for Modern Times."
Professionally, I’m both a psychotherapist and a longtime philosophy teacher at California State University in the San Francisco Bay Area. My background spans Bavaria in southern Germany, where I grew up, and the universities of Munich and Berkeley, where I studied Philosophy, Theology, Psychology, and German Literature. By sharing my work and the resources I value, I hope to encourage thoughtful engagement with life’s most pressing questions.
