About Me
I grew up in Silver City, NM and attended Silver High School. As a kid I played every sport I could but specialized in soccer and tennis. I also took advantage of the weather and scenery in Silver City and hiked and enjoyed the outdoors. Physical activity has always been a part of my life and I hope to inspire that love of movement in my students.
After high school I attended the University of New Mexico. I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education in 2008 and my Master's of Science in Curriculum & Instruction in 2009. While working on my Masters I was a graduate assistant and taught several courses at UNM. I taught in APS after my Masters in 2009 but quickly moved to Las Vegas, NV to continue my education. I did PhD work in the area of Physical Activity and Health at UNLV. While at UNLV I taught courses in physical education pedagogy and worked on several different research projects. I completed my PhD course work and comprehensive exams in 2013 and still need to complete a dissertation to fully earn my PhD.
When I left UNLV I moved back to Albuquerque and taught at UNM in the Physical Education Teacher Education Program. After teaching at UNM, I moved to Tucson, AZ and taught middle school social studies (bit of a career change). I could not stay away from PE though as physical activity is my real passion. I have been teaching elementary PE in APS for the last 6 years and look forward to continuing my career at Tres Volcanes.
I am fortunate to still play soccer on the weekends and love to golf, hike, and camp in my free time. I have been with Harmony (left) for nearly 20 years and we have two kids Dyllen and Mylo.
I am excited to be a part of the Tres Volcanes Community and look forward to working with all students and their families. Keep Moving!
