For many of us, the 2023 Transportation Research Board (TRB) Annual Meeting held in Washington, D.C., from January 8 through January 12, was our first time back since 2020. TRB’s mid-conference estimates put the attendance around 11,000. That is not up to the pre-pandemic numbers, but it is about halfway there from last year’s attendance.

Lectern Session

In years past, AME60 has put together a workshop, a poster session, and a couple of lectern sessions for each Annual Meeting, and we want to get back to that level of participation for next year. Even though we decided not to aspire to that for 2023, we put our energy into one session, which went well. AME60 teamed up with AJL50, TRB’s Committee on Environmental Issues in Transportation Law to hold a session on Project-Level Programmatic Agreements (PAs).

Committee Meeting & Dinner

We found a lovely outdoor (heated) patio for our committee dinner, but most importantly, we had our committee meeting, with members, friends, and some new faces. Find the meeting minutes attached. The group generated some good research topics to pursue this next year, which you can read more about in the Research Topics section.
