The Journey - Day 1 - Day 2 - Day 4 - Day 5

Day 3 - Outdoor Mass

Mile Markers:  18 to 24

Elevation Gain:  377'

Mass

We began the day, and the week, by celebrating Mass. We were very blessed to have Fr. Isaac come to offer Mass for us. He brought for us both the Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity of Jesus Christ, and much needed supplies. This was a wonderful reminder of God's providential love and care for His children amidst the woes of life.

The Hike

Today's leg of the hike was shorter than the previous day's, putting us in at under seven miles. We traversed the beautiful Pennsylvania forests while being blessed to have lighter rain, compared to the previous day's downpour, and only a short and mild hailstorm.

The Sights

We encountered many beautiful sights along today's leg, such as an old cemetery, large rock formations, and a cliff with a wonderful view, as seen on the left. Supposedly, one can see the skyline of Pittsburgh from the vantage point, but unfortunately the weather obscured any such possibility. We were granted, though, a beautiful view of Pennsylvania autumn.

Camp

We made camp before sundown, and established our home for the night by preparing our shelters with tarps and fires, and our spiritual home for the night, by setting up the chapel. With a team effort, we had dinner, warm fires, water, and plenty of wood in no time. We even got lucky and found a geocache near one of the shelters.
