The incident in Kalka Mail largely takes place in Kolkata and Shimla but there is an important interlude in Delhi. The incident primarily happens at the Ashok Hotel in Delhi (an iconic Delhi Hotel) and Jantar Mantar, a early modern astonomical observatory built in 1724. This visit is 2018, on a winter daytrip from university. I went to college near Delhi, and therefore going to central Delhi was quite common for me. This was although the first such trip I took in my freshman year. After visiting the more popular sites in Central Delhi like the Cannought Place Circle and the Gurdurwara at Bangla Saheb, I proceeded to walk to Jantar Mantar as a means to trace the story's path. At Jantar Mantar, I walk around similarly to think about particular observatories that Jatayu and Topshe walk through and encounter the criminal following them from Kolkata. The image is of me at Jantar Mantar posing after walking through tracing the fictional path of Topshe and Jatayu. It is selfie, and embodies new found freedom on my part. It was clearly one of my intial trip into Delhi, as I wear a salwar kurta. This form of clothing was something I would wear whenever I was nervous in the city.
