Sharon with Travis and Daytona picked me up at work about 5:25 PM, and we proceeded to the Philadelphia International Airport. We made good time getting there, and after a little mishap with my suitcase and glasses, we said our good-byes to Travis and Day and headed to our gate. There was plenty of time until our flight, so after clearing security, we stopped at Jack Duggan’s Pub for a bite and beer. The fare was below average, and so too was the ambiance, but our options were limited.

Our flight took off on schedule at 8:30 PM and landed in Reykjavik on time at about 6 AM local time, so while it was early as heck in Iceland, our internal clocks were still registering 2 AM, so we each had a Gull beer at Keflavik Airport. Luckily for us they were two-for-one because beer is expensive in Iceland. We then boarded our flight to Zurich, on which I managed to get about two hours of sleep, which was about one more than Sharon got. It would be all we’d get on our first day of travel.
