When you start to see the trend of childhood trauma and how children and youth present in your programs, you will be able to assess what kinds of supports they need.
Understanding how you can create after school and summer programs that are trauma-informed and create safe, healing spaces for children and youth will provide positive impacts on your community.
In addition, becoming skilled in assessing the needs of children and youth will help you to be able to identify the services they may need. Even upon a referral, the role of a Community House to provide community support throughout and after is a great benefit to the child and their family.
Most importantly, we need to continue these dialogues and continue learning.
