The Transportation Research Network (TRN) Paper Dialogues Series is an initiative designed to create deeper conversations around influential transport research papers and the ideas that shaped them.
Each episode features a one-hour discussion centred on a single influential research paper. Rather than focusing on a researcher’s career or general research portfolio, the conversation is built around one specific paper and the intellectual journey behind it.
The TRN Paper Dialogues Series aims to create a space for thoughtful technical and intellectual discussion that extends beyond the limits of short conference presentations or high-level workshops. By highlighting papers that stimulate rich conversation and giving authors the opportunity to share the thinking behind their work, the series seeks to encourage more ambitious, insightful, and impactful scholarship across the field of transportation research.

We invite TRN members to nominate papers and researchers they would like to see featured in future episodes. We are particularly interested in papers that have sparked new ways of thinking, challenged established assumptions, introduced important methodological advances, or inspired meaningful discussion across the transportation research community.
