The Origins of Language
No one knows how language originated.
According to Charles Darwin's theory of language beginnings, early people were utilizing their musical abilities "to charm each other" before they learned to speak.
Spoken language developed between 100,000 - 50,000 years ago ,well before written language (about 5,000 years ago).
The Divine Source
God created Adam “whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.”
Hindu tradition, it is Sarasvati, wife of Brahma, who is credited with bringing language to humanity
The Natural Sound Source
The human auditory system is active at about seven months of age
Early processing skills enable individuals to recognize sounds in their surroundings and make connections between the source of a sound and the sound itself.

If for no other reason than larger groups are more secure against attacks, the earliest humans have to have lived in groups.
