Students and parents have the choice and flexibility of practicing skills students are learning or reviewing skills they have already learned. There is no required homework to turn-in to the teacher; daily practice at home will help students to review and practice, leading to mastery of, grade-level skills.
Independent Reading (15-20min.) - practice Daily 5 strategies to build decoding skills, fluency, & comprehension skills
Journal Writing - keep a daily/weekly writing journal and write about personal memories or events, imaginative stories, poems, riddles, etc.
FactsWise Math Facts Practice (5-10min.) - practice current FactsWise goal using number sense strategies to build fluency (not memorizing flashcards)
1st & 2nd-grade: addition/subtraction facts (master by end of 2nd-grade)
3rd-grade: multiplication/division facts (master by end of 3rd-grade)
Provide your child with opportunities to pursue their interests and discover their talents beyond the academic setting.
Explore subjects and topics that interest your child.
Chat with your child about what they learned that day - let them teach you what they are learning.
Build reading stamina - read nightly and apply our metacognitive strategies to improve reading comprehension.
Build math fact fluency - teach and play the current FactsWise game with your family to build number sense and fact fluency (not memorizing flashcards)
Work on grade-level skills they have YET to meet the standard - Can your child apply this skill independently and consistently?
Review most important math skills they have already mastered - Can your child apply this skill independently and consistently over time? If they are rusty, this is a good time to review.
