Our school follows the SVUSD Wellness Policy approved by our SVUSD board of education. District policy states that individual celebrations such as a birthday may not include food items, must have advance approval by the classroom teacher or school principal, and should be scheduled during non-instructional time whenever possible.
Birthdays are important and we celebrate each child’s birthday by singing to the birthday student during weekly school-wide morning announcements.
Students in my class also receive special class privileges for the week (birthday line leader, special seating, etc).
At Trabuco, we celebrate everyone's birthday (including summer & holiday birthdays) by singing to them during our weekly morning announcements.
In class, students get special class treats such as sitting in our birthday chairs for the week and their top choice of flexible seating furniture.
NOTE: Please DO NOT bring any kind of birthday treats to be distributed for the class. Additionally, please DO NOT bring balloons, bouquets of flowers, or any other items that will cause a disruption to instructional time.
Families are encouraged, but not expected, to invite all students in our class to their child's birthday celebration.
To minimize disruption to our instructional time or unintentionally hurt any child's feelings, please place invitations in a ziploc bag and give to teacher instead.
NOTE: Birthday invitations will be sent home on Mondays, in our Trabuco communication folder.
