As our main activity, we hold regular meetings on the 3rd Saturday afternoon every month. We also have informal online meetings for the members. You can build your speaking skills in a supportive atmosphere!

Toastmasters regular meetings are based on the meeting format of Toastmasters International. However, each club has its uniqueness. For instance, we have a fun session "1-minute talk" at the beginning of the meeting. Here are the four segments of our meeting. We conduct the meetings in English.

メインの活動となるのが、毎月第3土曜日の午後に開催する通常例会です。また、メンバーが気楽に参加できるインフォーマルなミーティングも開催しています。みんなで励まし合うあたたかい雰囲気の中で、スピーキングのスキルを向上させることができます。

トーストマスターズクラブの通常例会はToastmasters International の推奨事項に合わせて行いますが、クラブによって特色があるのが面白いところです。たとえば豊田フレンドシップトーストマスターズクラブでは、例会のはじめに各メンバーが1分間のトークを行うユニークなセッションがあります。私たちのクラブの通常例会で行われる4つのセッションをご紹介します。なお、通常例会はすべて英語で行われます。

1-minute talk

This fun part is a great opportunity to know each other well! Each member gives a 1-minute speech about his or her recent news. In a relaxed atmosphere, you can talk about whatever you like, things such as your trip, your family, your pets, your jobs and so on.

各メンバーが1分間のスピーチで近況を報告します。話す内容は自由！旅行に行った話や家族、ペットの話、仕事の話など、リラックスした雰囲気の中で話します。メンバーの意外な一面を見ることも！？交流を深める楽しいセッションです。

Table Topics

In this segment, we exercise impromptu speaking. A table topics master shows a topic and calls on some speakers to give a 1-2minute impromptu speech. The speakers are required to express clear and organized thoughts about the topic instantly in a limited time. It is a bit tough, but the best way to improve speaking skills!

テーブルトピックセッションでは、即興スピーチを行います。テーブルトピックマスターと呼ばれる進行役がお題を出し、指名されたスピーカーは1-2分間のスピーチを即興で披露します。与えられたトピックについて、限られた時間内で自分の考えや経験などを自由に語ります。ちょっと大変ですが、スピーキングのスキルを上げるには最高の機会です！

Prepared Speeches

The prepared speech is a main part of the Toastmaster program. Speakers usually prepare 5-7-minute speeches (4-6mins for Ice Breaker) while learning how to create speeches through Toastmaster International's online educational program, "Pathways", then give their prepared speech in front of listeners.  Don' worry about how your speech will be perceived. The listeners will applaud you warmly. At first, you might be nervous about public speaking though, you'll have fun soon!

準備スピーチは、トーストマスターの例会でもっともメインのセッションです。スピーカーはトーストマスターのオンライン教育プログラム「パスウェイズ」でスピーチの作り方を学びながら、5〜7分間のスピーチ（最初のスピーチは4〜6分間）を準備し、メンバーの前で披露します。自分のスピーチがどのように受け止められるのか心配する必要はありません。聴いた人は必ず温かい拍手を送ってくれます！最初は緊張するかもしれませんが、すぐに楽しめるようになりますよ！

Evaluation

There is no teacher in Toastmasters regular meetings. Instead, members observe the prepared speech delivered by other members and give suggestions. Evaluators carefully observe and listen to what the speakers are saying and how they are presenting. They conduct a 2-3minute evaluation giving praise and constructive suggestions. This system allows us to learn both the art of speaking and evaluation.

トーストマスターズの例会には、指導者がいません。その代わり、メンバーが他のメンバーの準備スピーチに対して論評を行います。論評者はスピーカーが何を話し、どのように発表したのかを注意深く観察します。そして良かった点、改善すべき点を2〜3分間でスピーチします。この方法で、メンバーは話し方と論評の技法を同時に学ぶことができるのです。

Informal Fun Meeting!

We have a monthly online "Cozy Meeting" as well as the regular meeting. The content and timetable are up to a member who chairs the meeting!  To give you some examples,  we have a short speech on a specific theme such as "animals" or a mini-quiz on English vocabulary. You can communicate with other members having fun!

豊田フレンドシップトーストマスターズクラブでは、毎月の通常例会のほかに、Cozy Meetingと呼ばれるお楽しみ例会をオンラインで月1回開催しています。内容やタイムテーブルは司会進行を務めるメンバー次第！たとえば「動物」など特定のテーマにちなんだ短いスピーチを全員で披露したり、英単語のクイズ大会を催したりしています。英語を楽しみながらメンバーとの交流を深める機会となっています。
