June 7 - Amlan Charter Day
A special day marking Amlan’s official status as an independent municipality. This celebration honors the town’s journey, from its humble beginnings to the progressive and vibrant community it is today. The day is filled with activities such as a civic parade, historical exhibits, and cultural performances. A fellowship lunch is also held, but exclusively for local government employees, as a way to recognize their contributions to Amlan’s development.
Buglasan Festival (Every October)
Known as the “Festival of Festivals” in Negros Oriental, Buglasan is a grand province-wide celebration where towns and cities compete in various cultural and tourism-related events. While Amlan does not participate in the street dancing competition, the town actively joins other events, where it has earned recognition and won multiple awards in various categories. From trade fairs and culinary contests to talent showcases and pageantry, Amlan proudly represents its heritage and people in this prestigious festival.
A grand cultural presentation that focuses on traditional folk dances and other heritage performances from Amlan’s eight barangays. This event serves as a platform for preserving local traditions, with performers dressed in vibrant native costumes, gracefully executing time-honored dances. In addition to folk dances, other cultural presentations such as indigenous music, theatrical performances, and storytelling are featured, making Pasundayag a true celebration of Amlan’s rich cultural identity.
Sayaw-Himig (Every December)
A heartwarming choral competition that captures the essence of the Christmas season in Amlan. School choirs and community singing groups compete in a festive musical showdown, filling the air with harmonious voices and Christmas melodies. The event also features dance performances, adding a visual element to the already captivating musical numbers. This celebration embodies the warmth and joy of the holiday season, bringing the community together in song and dance.
Alman Festival (Every June 7 - Under Conceptualization)
Amlan’s very own town festival, inspired by the wild guava fruit—locally known as "Alman"—from which the town derives its name. The Alman Festival is envisioned as a grand thanksgiving celebration that pays tribute to the town’s history, its natural resources, and its thriving community. The wild guava holds a special significance in Amlan’s identity, so much so that it is featured in the town’s official coat of arms or logo. Plans for this festival include street dancing competitions, agri-fair exhibitions, food festivals featuring local delicacies, and environmental awareness activities that highlight Amlan’s commitment to sustainability.
Budyas Festival (June 29)
A deeply traditional celebration in Barangay Tandayag, the Budyas Festival is a thanksgiving ritual of the local fisherfolk, honoring the sea for its bountiful harvest. This maritime-themed festival features a unique blend of religious, cultural, and community activities, including:
Double Holy Masses held at the barangay’s two churches, uniting the faithful in prayer and gratitude.
A grand fluvial parade, where beautifully decorated boats sail across the waters in a festive procession, paying homage to the sea.
Seafood feasts, where freshly caught fish and other marine delicacies are shared among the community.
Traditional fishing contests and boat races, celebrating the skills and resilience of Amlan’s fisherfolk.
The Budyas Festival is more than just a celebration—it is a testament to the town’s strong ties to the ocean, honoring its role in sustaining the lives of the people in Tandayag.
At the heart of it all is Amlan’s grand town fiesta, celebrated every November 29-30 in honor of St. Andrew the Apostle, the town’s patron saint. This whole month celebration fills the streets with joyous festivities, including holy masses, parades, concerts, and a variety of exciting events that highlight Amlan’s rich heritage and strong community spirit.
