Important Dates for the 2026-2027 School Year
March 2nd: Registration window opens.
April 24th, 2026: Deadline to complete registration for lottery entry.
May 6th: UPK Lottery live-streamed at 10:00 AM.
Eligibility & Age-Based Tuition
Our NYS-funded UPK program is designed for students who turn four years old on or before December 1st.
Kindergarten-Eligible Students (Age 5): > If your child will turn 5 years old on or before December 1st, 2025, they may still enroll in our program on a tuition basis. The cost for these students is:
Monthly Plan: $540 per month (for 10 months).
Prepayment Plan: $5,400 paid in full in September.
Self-Payment via BrightWheel: We utilize the BrightWheel App for all tuition management. This provides parents with a convenient, secure self-payment option and real-time billing updates.
How to Apply for UPK
The New Paltz Central School District handles all UPK registrations. To apply for a seat at Tots In Toyland, follow these steps:
Download the Packet: Access the Pre-K Registration Packet
Gather Documents: Ensure you have your child’s birth certificate, proof of residency, and immunization records ready.
Submit via Email: Send your completed forms and all supporting documents to Jennifer Sutton at jesutton@newpaltz.k12.ny.us
Confirm Receipt: If you have questions about your application status, contact the Duzine Main Office at (845) 256-4350.
The Lottery Process
Because UPK is a state-funded program with limited seats, enrollment is determined by a random lottery.
Lottery Entry: Every child who completes registration by April 24th is entered.
Waiting List: Students not placed during the lottery will be added to a waiting list in the order their number was drawn.
Late Registration: Applications submitted after April 24th will be placed on the waiting list in the order they are received.

If you have been awarded a UPK seat and require extended care hours, registration for wrap-around services is handled directly by Tots In Toyland.
Registration Fee: $40 (Increases to $100 after September 15th).
