Everything you need to know about our UPK partnership with New Paltz CSD.
UPK is a New York State-funded early childhood education program that provides free, high-quality prekindergarten opportunities for eligible four-year-old children. The program focuses on the development of the whole child, including social-emotional learning, early literacy and numeracy, and learning through play.
Children are eligible if they are residents of the New Paltz Central School District and turn four (4) years old on or before December 1 of the school year in which they are applying.
Yes. UPK is provided at no cost to families. Optional services, such as before- and after-care, involve additional fees paid directly to the provider.
Yes. Transportation is provided by the New Paltz Central School District for UPK students. Please note: Families are responsible for transportation arrangements if they are utilizing before- or after-care services.
Because UPK is not an entitlement program, enrollment is determined through a random lottery when applications exceed available seats. All eligible applications received by the deadline are entered. Students not selected are placed on a waiting list.
