The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is a form that students can use to apply for federal financial aid, including grants, work-study, and loans, each year of college.
The 2026-2027 FAFSA will be available starting Oct. 1st, 2025!
What is an FSA ID?
What is an FSA ID?
The FSA ID is a username and password combination you use to log in to U.S. Department of Education (ED) online systems. The FSA ID is your legal signature and shouldn't be created or used by anyone other than you—not even your parent, your child, a school official, or a loan company representative.
Things to Remember:
DO NOT use your school-given email address to create your FSA ID
Students AND their Legal parent(s)/guardian(s) should create an FSA ID
If the parent/guardian has previously created an FSA ID, you do not need to create a new one
