TOP's mission and purpose surrounds around outreach. With each production, TOP makes a commitment to support community engagement with theater by producing live theater and theater outreach events. We will organize workshops in collaboration with the community which may include: live performances, close readings of theater texts, acting exercises, technical theater design, and/or other theater activities to share theater with partners and learn from them in return. Thank you to our partners!
Our Partners
TOP holds a longstanding partnership with M.S. 180 Daniel Hale Williams Middle Schools. M.S. 180's mission emphasizes the vitality of arts programming for students to provide them essential skills and an environment for success.
For each of our productions, we bring the message of our shows to the students. This includes acting workshops, tutorials of technical elements, close readings, or other activities to gain a deeper understanding of themes. We work with both the student body and theater classes. Students also have been welcomed to view our productions in a private performance, accompanied with other activities. Thank you to M.S. 180 for partnering with us!
The Fordham Liberty Partnership Program
The Fordham Liberty Partnership Program (FLPP) is a collaboration between the Liberty Partnership Program and Fordham University to deliver research-based programming to middle and high school students to decrease their risk of dropping out of school.
TOP partners with FLPP to promote the arts and creative expression as an aspect of this programming. Students are invited to Fordham theater spaces to participate in acting exercises, technical theater workshops, improvisation games, and other theater activities. These activities are designed to encourage storytelling through theater as a method for students to express themselves and work together.
Mind-Builders
Mind-Builders Creative Arts Center, based in the Bronx, NY, offers arts programming, including dance, music, and theater, to students. By working to develop art-based skills, Mind-Builders nurtures self-esteem, builds character, and cultivates an appreciated of the diverse cultures in our community (About Us). They strive for accessibility, creating programming for all families. Some of their programs includes dance, vocal and band, martial arts, and theater training classes. TOP works to fundraise for Mind-Builders by providing donations.
