A few decisions will need to be made after you purchase a motorcycle. 1) What type of Helmet are you going to wear? 2) Are you going to wear armor in your clothing? For me, the decisions were obvious. I wanted the most protection I could afford. I chose (as I did when I was 20 years old) to wear a full-face helmet and I wanted as much armor as possible. Having said that, similarly minded new riders need to understand that this type of gear can easily cost $ 1,000 or more. I have 3 Jackets to cover riding almost year-round. All of them have shoulder, elbow and back armor. I will just show you my summer set up to keep things brief. My jacket is a REV'IT! GT-R Air 2, the black sections are a mesh material for good airflow. Since armored riding jeans are a bear to get sized correctly, I choose BOHN Cool-Air Mesh Armored pants. Well, they are more like tights with removable armor inside sewn-in pockets. I wear jeans on top of them sized 2" longer than what I normally wear. Alpinestars SMX-1R vented boots are a great choice and they provide armor protection to your ankle bones. My gloves are Sedici Marco mesh gloves. Last is my helmet is a Bilt Discovery Adventure helmet in dark matte grey.
