SHIBUYA
SHIBUYA
Shibuya is called the town of youth.
It is a place where young people enjoy shopping and hanging out in the many fashionable and "Kawaii" (cute) stores. Shibuya leads trends not only in Tokyo, but in Japan as well, you can experience the latest styles.
On the other hand, many office buildings have been constructed recently and venture companies are gathering there, making it an important area for business as well.
The Shibuya scramble crossing is a iconic place, the sight of a huge number of people coming and going is breathtaking. It is a real scramble, and you must be impressed by how skillfully they avoid each other and cross the intersection.
It is famous worldwide, many tourists visit and take pictures there.
Shibuya is very active at night as well, with a wide variety of restaurants, Izakaya, and Karaoke. Many stores are open until the morning. There are also lots of clubs, you can choose the club with the music of your taste and enjoy over night. Therefore, the station can be crowded even in early morning on weekends.
Shibuya is definitely one of the must-visit areas for foreign visitors to Tokyo. You can feel Japanese youth culture and experience the latest fashion, music, and food culture.
My Story
Before COVID-19, Shibuya during Halloween was full of people dressed in costumes, and it was very exciting. Some people came all the way from outlying areas. Since there were more people in costume, those who were not in costume looked more strange.
I also dressed up with my friends and walked around the streets of Shibuya. Even though we just stroll around, it was so much fun. We took photos with strangers and talked about our costumes.
There was no organizer for the commotion, it just happened spontaneously. It was very interesting. There was not the same level of excitement during the COVID-19 pandemic, but I hope it will return soon.
