On this occasion

WE EXPRESS OUR SINCERE THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT ECONOMIC SOLIDARITY to the Francisco Coll Educational Center FOR EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL OF THE TRAINING AND COMPREHENSIVE EDUCATION OF BOYS AND GIRLS

in the landfill (garbage dump zone 3). Children and families with limited resources are grateful for the donation, which will benefit the entire educational community. We join in prayer for peace and justice in the world.

TEW Update: Spring, 2023

The following classes will be offered to students for the 2023 calendar year at one of the schools that TEW supports.

We are infinitely grateful for your valuable economic donation for the boys and girls of the Francisco Coll Educational Center of the zone 3 landfill in Guatemala City. As we shared in our thank you letter, we used the donation they sent us to buy desks for the boys and girls at our school. The student enrollment for this year is 292 students (2020 school year number of students 253, the number of students has increased in the last three years). And that means an increase in other expenses, as happened in the desks that were needed. But with your great support we have bought more desks and thus each student has their own desk in this 2023 school year. Children, Girls and low-income families in the community appreciate the donation, which benefits to the free comprehensive training and education provided at the educational center. We unite in prayer for peace and justice in the world.

TEW Update: March 20, 2022

The following images were taken prior to the schools having to close again as a result of them being located in a "RED" zone again.

This means that all teaching has to be virtual.

Given that both the schools and students lack computers, books, school supplies etc., virtual education is very difficult and it is not "online".

The schools are waiting for the Covid situation to improve, so that students can continue their education in-person.

TEW Update: November 5, 2021

We are dealing with the pandemic with great care at the school and are able to continue some of the normal activities with the boys and girls, using the hybrid education model (semi-face-to-face classes). On alternating days of the week, we are permitted to carry out educational activities with them. We are always pay special attention to the very important biosecurity measures required to protect both students and teachers from the covid-19 pandemic.

Unfortunately, some of the students and their families have been infected with this terrible disease, but they have been able to recover.

All the school staff have been supporting the families and the children by providing good cheer and joy and an education as best as possible with the limited resources that we have available. This pandemic is very difficult for everyone.

The children are very happy to be able to attend school even though it is on a part-time basis. We have just celebrated Children's Day with the students to motivate them and give them joy in their environment.

TEW Update: February 15, 2021

Due to class size restrictions and the capacity of the school to deal with Covid-19, the class sizes are now limited to 10 students in order to comply with protocol.  The students are only allowed to attend class once a week, on Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday.  This new protocol is going to have a huge impact on the ability of the students to get an education. They have started classes with the hybrid education modality (blended and study guides) while the pandemic lasts.

The boys and girls are very happy and happy to go back to school. Our work team is committed to providing and facilitating free comprehensive training and education, with all health and capacity biosafety protocols, to prevent covid-19 infections in the educational community.

In Guatemala and anywhere in the world there are cases of covid-19 every day. In the community of Sanitary Landfill zone 3 there have also been cases of the virus, but people have recovered at home. People have remained anonymous when they are sick with the virus since they are discriminated against and neighbors can remove them from their homes. That is why they maintain discretion when they get sick.

Thanks to people like you, they stand in solidarity with our educational mission and are part of the continuity of education for low-income boys and girls from the garbage dump in zone 3 Guatemala City. We are very grateful for their love, closeness and solidarity with the families of our students.

We share with you the matrix of our hybrid education modality plan for the 2021 school year while the pandemic lasts.
