I'm listing all my previously rejected works because they count and I have spent time on them. Since I started the list on October 2021, things that had been rejected before that might not all be listed here. My recollection of what happened to them is probably also imperfect. So this is obviously not a complete list because of those reasons. In the future, I might also omit other things or details for various reasons, e.g., confidentiality or co-authors' consent.
Rejected scientific manuscripts
2023
A submission to DHd2024, as a co-author.
An abstract submission to the conference "Bridging the gap - synergies between art history and conservation", as a co-author.
A submission to the Archiving 2023 conference, as a co-author.
2021
A. G. Oliversen, H. Deborah. Water Quality of Lake Mjøsa through Satellite Images: A Preliminary Study. Rejected by NIKT 2021. Manuscript and reviews are available here: [arXiv]
2020
H. Deborah, M.O. Ulfarsson, J. Sigurdsson. Fully constrained least squares linear spectral unmixing of The Scream (Verso, 1893). Rejected by IEEE ICASSP 2020. Reworked, resubmitted, and accepted by WHISPERS 2021.
2018
N. Richard, H. Deborah, O. Ben-Ahmed, M. Ivanovici. Statistics for hyperspectral image analysis: Towards metrological features. Rejected by MDPI Journal of Imaging. This was a revised version of the rejected work below. Since then, the complete work has never been published in its original format of writing. Parts of the content, however, can be found in my other published works.
N. Richard, H. Deborah, O. Ben-Ahmed, M. Ivanovici. Statistics for hyperspectral image analysis: Towards metrological features. Rejected by MDPI Remote Sensing.
2017
H. Deborah, N. Richard, J.Y. Hardeberg, C. Fernandez-Maloigne. Hyperspectral morphological gradients. Rejected by ISMM 2017. Reworked, resubmitted, and accepted by IS&T CIC 2017.
2016
H. Deborah, N. Richard, J.Y. Hardeberg. Crack detection of cultural heritage paintings based on hyperspectral imaging. Submitted to JEI, got a major revision, but had to give up on it due to writing my PhD dissertation. If I remember correctly it was never withdrawn but being let into passing the deadline for revision and then I got an automatic rejection. This manuscript was a completed and updated work on crack detection compared to the two conference articles previously published in 2015 (TAIMA and CVCS). If anyone is interested in this work, please read Chapter 8 of my PhD dissertation.
2015
H. Deborah, N. Richard, J.Y. Hardeberg. Crack detection of cultural heritage paintings based on hyperspectral imaging. Rejected by SCIA 2015. Reworked, resubmitted into two articles, accepted in TAIMA 2015 and CVCS 2015.
H. Deborah, N. Richard, J.Y. Hardeberg, C. Fernandez-Maloigne. Distance-based rank order filters for hyperspectral images. Rejected by IEEE Transactions on Image Processing. This manuscript neither got reworked nor resubmitted anywhere else. Nevertheless, the complete and updated work can be read in Chapter 4 of my PhD dissertation.
H. Deborah, N. Richard, J.Y. Hardeberg. An extensive survey and evaluation of multivariate ordering relations for hyperspectral image processing. Rejected by IEEE JSTARS. After significant restructuring and reworking, it becomes the article that is now published by IEEE JSTARS in 2018.
2014
H. Deborah, N. Richard, J.Y. Hardeberg. On the quality evaluation of spectral image processing algorithms. Rejected by EUVIP 2014. Reworked, resubmitted, and accepted in SITIS 2014.
Rejected research and project proposals
The following is definitely not an exhaustive (it is exhausting though :P) list. I will only include proposal writing where I am the sole/main author and for when there is no confidentiality issue.
Researcher Project for Young Talents, 2023, Research Council of Norway.
Researcher Project for Young Talents, 2022, Research Council of Norway.
Researcher Project for Young Talents, 2021, Research Council of Norway.
NTNU Enabling Technologies - PhD positions, 2021, Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
Researcher Project for Young Talents, 2020, Research Council of Norway.
PhD research proposal, 2014, Høgskolen i Gjøvik (Norway). My PhD proposal was rejected the first time, then reworked and revised into a successful second submission.
Failed submissions
These are things that I had worked on but, for one or another reason, never even made it to the submission.
ERC Starting Grant, 2023, European Research Council (due date 25.10.2022)
