Tomball Memorial’s MCJROTC program offers cadets a variety of after-school activities throughout the year. Cadets have the opportunity to compete in events against other schools across the state and nationwide, earning the title of National Champions.
Join A Team Of Champions And Push Yourself To Become Your Best Self
While co-curricular activities are not mandatory, they are highly encouraged as they help cadets develop a strong sense of accomplishment, responsibility, discipline, leadership, and esprit de corps—the spirit of teamwork and pride that defines our program.
The Raiders Team is the ultimate test of physical fitness, mental toughness, and tactical teamwork—and it represents the exciting new direction of our unit! Following an incredible inaugural season last year, our Raiders are charging into their second year stronger, faster, and more determined than ever.
In this high-intensity, competitive sport, cadets push past their limits in grueling outdoor events, including team fitness runs, obstacle courses, rope bridge construction, and physical endurance challenges. If you are looking to build peak athletic conditioning, forge unbreakable bonds of camaraderie, and prove what you're truly capable of, the Raiders Team is where champions are made. Are you ready to answer the call?

Closing remarks
The inspection team consists of our most confident and well-versed cadets. A group of 10-13 cadets who have the strongest grasp of the knowledge material presented to them, and those who present themselves with the most bearing during inspections, are chosen to be a member of this team. These cadets take care to have great attention to detail when preparing their uniforms. When competing at the regional and national level, these cadets are inspected by retired/active duty military members, in a test of keeping their confidence under pressure.
Color Guard is the precise and elegant display of our nations flag, as well as that of the Marine Corps. Each color guard team consists of four cadets, two armed with rifles and two presenting the flags. Our color guard marches for many events throughout the year and performs during the national anthem at our school for football games. Our competitive color guard learns a drill card, which they execute in perfect synchronized step during regional and national competition.
Regulation drill consists of both in-place and marching. During this, the platoon executes commands called by the commander with sharpness and bearing. This includes columns, flanks, faces, etc. Cadets are expected to learn and master these movements as well as perform them accurately during practice and competitions.
Unarmed Exhibition Drill is an advanced team that branches off from Unarmed Regulation Drill. Cadets create and perform a 6–8 minute routine featuring precise formations, synchronized movements, and rhythmic beats made with stomps and slaps. The team is made up of 9–12 cadets and one commander. Our program is consistently recognized for its military precision, discipline, and professional presentation.
Marksmanship is a rewarding and disciplined sport that requires focus, precision, and responsibility. Cadets don’t need to be big, strong, or fast—just committed and safety-minded. While marksmanship is both challenging and fun, it is never a game and must always be taken seriously. Safety is the top priority, whether in class or on the competitive team. Cadets can earn qualification badges—Marksman, Sharpshooter, and Expert—with Expert being the highest. These badges recognize cadets who have demonstrated safe rifle handling and strong shooting skills through official qualification tests.
Academic Team members are selected through a program-wide test, with the top 4–8 scorers invited to compete in the JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl (JLAB). This national competition challenges cadets in areas such as math, science, reading comprehension, grammar, current events, and JROTC leadership. The team has the opportunity to advance through four levels of competition, with the final stage being the national championship. The qualifying test is given annually, and only seniors are ineligible to participate in the JLAB competition.
