Resources and recordings from Teaching & Learning Day Fall 2021
As we move toward a more virtual Seneca, what does success look like? This session will address this overarching question by featuring insights from international experts in teaching and learning, and words of advice from Seneca students.
We will explore how we can support each other moving forward using four interactive discussions:
What is working? What do we want to hold on to as we move forward?
Who is unheard? How do we ensure that nobody is left behind?
Are we ok? How can we teach in a way that values and sustains faculty and student health and well-being?
How do we connect? What opportunities arise through teaching and learning in a virtual space?

As social media platforms have grown into the cultural monoliths they are today, creators have been leveraging their strengths to educate people in new and interesting ways. By looking at the ways educators and content creators engage their audience and encourage learning we can find unique pedagogical insights that will help us craft more engaging and effective content for courses both in the classroom and online.
Come join us as we explore strategies for allowing your students to SHOW you what they can DO. In this interactive workshop, we will take a look at ways to assess and evaluate students’ skill & competency development through Performance-Based tasks, which allow your students to show off their skills. We will also address the pros and cons of performance-based assessments in virtual environments and consider ways to seamlessly integrate these tools into your online course.

Everyone has a story to tell. With the availability of technology today, it's easier than ever - and arguably even more important - for students and faculty to be able to tell those stories in the modalities of their choosing, be it the written word, audio, video, or static images and share those stories beyond the classroom. Join former educator Jim Babbage to learn about some of the unique - and dare we say, "fun" ways in which students can craft their stories in the digital age.

Digital media fluency builds towards a critical reflexivity that allows learners to construct and wield tools of participation and creation within their academic, social and professional communities. By providing learners with the tools needed to engage as media creators (instead of only consumers), digital media can act as a powerful tool for the amplification of voice, as a means to personalize content and an opportunity to embed one’s own personal and cultural artifacts within their work.
Join us as we explore some of the learning principles propelling digital assignments and our recommended path to defining, developing and deploying digital assignments with Sandbox packages. Learn with us as we showcase the various facets of support we provide to educators creating digital assignments and to their learners tasked with completing them.
