“All students deserve learning experiences that will build their skills, raise their self esteem and enrich their lives”
The COVID-19 pandemic has given educators around the world a unique opportunity to rethink and redesign what learning should look like in order to prepare students for the 21st century society.
As a Google Certified Educator, I constantly explore different G suite tools to support students to effectively manage their challenges in learning. In August 2020, I was invited to host a Google Education webinar in Hong Kong sharing my expertise in using Google Calendar to improve productivity in learning. The recording of the webinar can be found here.
Relationships and a strong sense of school community are the key components of successful learning during school closure. Since my current school Tashkent International School embarked on the virtual learning journey in spring 2020, I am involved in a number of whole school virtual events ranging from vegetarian cook-off challenge, Earth Day up-cycling workshop, 25 year anniversary celebration and the lastest Compassion Relay to celebrate International Day of Peace.
The experiences of organising these events have confirmed my belief that fostering relationships among all members of the school community is the foundation of effective and meaningful learning. While students are consigned to quarantined home learning, an engaging and caring virtual community not only can enhance our well being but can also significantly improve participation in our virtual classroom.
