On March 28, a unique international online meeting took place to celebrate the holidays, with the participation of over 150 students and 11 teachers from 10 schools (from Greece, Spain, Poland, Romania, Turkey, Ukraine, and Hungary). The lesson was organized and led by Ms. Monika Piasecka. In preparation for this event, we created flags of the countries participating in the project, designed posters about the holidays, and talked about holiday traditions in our countries.
The meeting began with a warm welcome and introduction of the partner countries. Then we started the first main task, in which we shared our favorite traditions related to celebrating holidays. Thanks to the participation of countries with different traditions, we had the opportunity to learn many interesting facts, such as: in Greece, eggs are painted red for Easter, "Husvet" is the Hungarian name for Easter, and "Semana Santa" is the Holy Week in Spain, during which many processions take place. In addition, we learned that in Turkey, Ramadan, the period of fasting, ends at the end of March, and then the Feast of Breaking the Fast - "Eid al-Fitr" is celebrated. Colleagues from different parts of Turkey told us about these traditions.
The next point of the meeting was a joint game of Kahoot, prepared by Mr. Mustafa from Turkey. The set of questions included those we discussed during the lesson, concerning holiday traditions. The competition was fierce but there was definitely no shortage of emotions and fun.
At the end of the lesson, we said goodbye and wished each other "Happy Easter". It was an amazing experience that brought us closer to other cultures and traditions.
