This storymap stores a (always in-process) spatial archive of what I (now) call the Many Latinx Souths.
The spatial archive (and accompanying database) aims to represent and organize (somewhat geographically) an ever-growing body of media stories, academic research, books, and exhibits about Latinxs in the US South.
The primary purpose of the spatial archive is to act as a resource and/tool for interested party. It is by (its) nature incomplete, any errors are mine. This version can be seen as in development/beta
(in short, stay tuned, more to come).
A few notes:
*Each entry has the following details:
a) Citation
b) Type
c) Topic and/or Discipline
e) Summary, Excerpt, Quote, or Abstract
f) Location
g) Additional Notes/Context
**Citations follow APA formatting.
***Type is tied to the following background color key:
Book = Dark Blue
Academic Article/Book Chapter = Red
Dissertation = Green; Report = Black
Media/Essay/Blog Post = Purple
Archive/Exhibit/Collection = Orange
Social Media = Dark Pink
Conference = Light Pink
Film/Television = Teal
****Location references a geographic link, connection, or area tied to the entry. In some cases, this reference is specific while in others it is approximate. In other cases, a location references a publisher location or state Capitol. These are imperfect correspondences and notes are provided within the entry to explain rationale.
*****Although the archive is intentionally broad and general, it skews toward South Carolina and education. There is no agenda other than my dissertation studied South Carolina and my home field is educational studies. While the entries are organized chronologically, if you clip on a specific location on the map you can view nearby entries.

The spatial archive would not be possible without the help of amazing doctoral student Vi Trinh (University at Buffalo), the students at my lab, TheLT3, and the Spencer/National Academy of Education Postdoctoral Fellowship.
