Standard 5: Instructional Delivery
The competent teacher differentiates instruction by using a variety of strategies that support critical and creative thinking, problem-solving, and continuous growth and learning. This teacher understands that the classroom is a dynamic environment requiring ongoing modification of instruction to enhance learning for each student
Description: Using a picture book, I created a lesson plan for my elementary literacy class at Trinity. In this video, I made an engaging and interactive literacy lesson plan focused on the reading strategy of visualizing. I demonstrated how we use the reading strategy, visualizing, to better connect to the story. Students can create pictures in their minds to better understand what is happening in the story.
Connection: 5N) uses technology to accomplish differentiated instructional objectives that enhance learning for each student: This artifact meets the performance indicator because it utilizes technology to accomplish differentiated instructional objectives to enhance student learning. By creating a lesson online it not only fosters collaboration among students but also creates opportunities for parent involvement. Students can listen to the story, but as the teacher, I can pause, allowing them to create mental images as they follow along. To enhance my lesson further, I can incorporate interactive online platforms or tools that enable students to share their visualizations.
Learned: While in my elementary literacy and creating this lesson plan, I realized that visualizing is a powerful technique that helps students create mental images while reading, enhancing their comprehension and overall understanding of the story. Completing this lesson was beneficial because, due to COVID-19, we had to learn new ways to teach and reach our students when unable to be in a physical classroom. Creating and preparing a lesson plan online allowed for a backup plan and a more diverse way of teaching students than if we were in a school.

Using Technology In Math
Description: These pictures show different technology tools I use in math with my students, including but not limited to ABCya! • Learning Games and Apps for Kids and Boom Learning | Empowering teachers and students.
Connection: 5C) knows how to implement effective differentiated instruction through the use of a wide variety of materials, technologies, and resources: My students love anything technology related: iPads, computers, and Smartboards. Finding engaging ways for them to have fun while using technology can be beneficial by promoting collaboration, active learning, and critical thinking skills. I can also customize assignments based on student needs. Instructional delivery and differentiated instruction are necessary components of effective teaching to educate the diverse needs of students.
Learned: It's important to have technology implemented in your lesson plans. It's also essential to have a backup in case technology fails you. It's crucial to involve and encourage a mix of instructional strategies such as whole-group instruction, small groups and centers, hands-on activities, and multimedia presentations to accommodate the different learning styles you will have in your classroom. By combining effective instructional delivery with differentiated instruction, you create a learning environment responsive to each student's unique needs and strengths. Flexibility, ongoing assessment, and a commitment to student engagement are critical elements in successfully implementing these approaches.
