Basic Leadership Training (BLT) is a three day trip to Camp Navajo. Cadets will learn Leadership development, drill and ceremony, physical fitness training, team-building exercises, field training, public speaking and communication, evaluations and feedback. BLT is designed to provide cadets with foundational skills for leading others, instilling confidence, and preparing them for more advanced training or leadership roles in the future. Also, cadets will have LOTS of fun in BLT.
Every cadet in the unit will participate in the Annual Military Inspection (AMI). This inspection in particular is the biggest event in Thunderbird's unit. It is a chance to support our great reputation in front of the Area 11 manager. Which is the head of every unit in the Arizona and Southern California area. This inspection is a chance for all cadets to show how Thunderbird does it.
Military Ball was a night to remember, with cadets from all over Phoenix enjoying each others company. Cadets who are new to the program are introduced to the basics of ceremony and etiquette. Yes, truly a wonderful and exciting night for all.
Splash of the titans is a fun get to together for the cadets. Cadets will have fun with each other. In the splash of the titans, we do dunk tanks, water balloon fights and more! Also we get some sliders (burgers) and rollers (hot dogs) to eat.
The Rest Haven community service event was a powerful experience wherein cadets payed their respects for the brave and selfless individuals that gave the ultimate sacrifice for their beloved country.
This unit camp out is the first in three semesters, and was a phenomenal success. With copious amounts of team bonding as well as leadership development, with both tent inspections and Jody calls. This will once again be a long standing Thunderbird tradition.
The California trip was a major success bringing together the new cadets on the drill teams and allowing for a truly once in a lifetime experience, that is until we go again next year.
Every year Thunderbird and all the cadets who qualify take a trip to the Pima Air and Space Museum. Where they check out historic aircraft such as President Dwight D Eisenhower's personal Air Force 1, B19 bombers and more.
