The Roman Coliseum

At the entrance to the training field stands the Instructor, awaiting the arrival of his students. The training field is a large arena styled similar to that of the great Colosseum in Rome. It wasn’t long before the students arrived with their servants walking beside them. Well, mostly. Hera was dragging Zeus into the training field.
Zeus: Hera, darling, I promise I wasn’t staring out those girls in their short skirts. I was simply admiring the scenery is all.
Hera: You expect me to believe you after I saw you making that lecherous face. You should be thankful I haven’t punished you yet.
Britomart: Those two are quite spirited, don’t you think?
Noah: Yes, they make the perfect, loving, couple.
Hera and Zeus: ARE YOU BLIND?!
Instructor: Haha, it would seem things haven’t been dull in your short break.
John: You got that right. Those two have been bickering constantly.
John glances at the still quarrelling Zeus and Hera.
Elizabeth: I hope they can get along enough to actually fight together.
Chris: I wouldn’t worry. They are married after all.
Mark: That doesn’t mean they get along, Chris.
A short distance away.
Hera: Be silent, you womanizing pig!
Zeus: How dare you! You ogre!
Hera: Ogre! You dare call the queen of Olympus an ogre!
Zeus: And you dare call the king of Olympus a pig!
As the two continue bickering, the Instructor claps several times to get everyone's attention.
Instructor: Okay, that’s enough. If I let you continue arguing we’ll be here all day.
At the Instructor's words, Zeus and Hera finally stop and everyone looks towards the Instructor.
Instructor: First, the arena is made--
Chris raises his hand.
Instructor: Yes, Chris?
Chris: Can you give the short version?
The instructor sighs.
Instructor: Very well. Your servants do not have to worry about damaging the arena since all the damage can be easily reversed. That simple enough?
Chris: Perfect!
Instructor: Good. Now then, allow me to introduce who you will be sparring with today.
The instructor motions and three students walk into the training field with their servants.
Lawrence: The name’s Lawrence and this is my servant, Saber class Yamato Takeru.
Introduces the tall and lanky man with a samurai standing beside him.
Rachel: And I’m Rachel with my servant from the Caster class, Alice from Wonderland. I’m sure it’s a pleasure for all of you to meet me.
Follows the short, haughty, brunette with a little girl dancing around behind her.
Kelly: I’m Kelly and this is my servant, Assassin class Psyche and Cupid. They kind of come as a package.
Finishes the tall girl with glasses. Behind her is a beautiful woman and a young boy with wings.
Chris and the others then introduce themselves in the same way. With the introductions finished, the instructor turns towards everyone.
Instructor: These three are the other members of your team. Before we begin training, I would like everyone to get to know each other a little better.
With that, everyone begins conversing with each other. In particular…
Zeus: Eros, buddy, how’ve you been?
Cupid: I’ve been good. How about you, Zeus?
Zeus: Never better. Say…
Zeus wraps his arm around Cupid and lowers his voice.
Zeus: Your power to infatuation others still works, right?
Cupid: To a certain extent. Why do you ask?
Zeus: Great! That makes things much easier.
Cupid: Don’t tell me…
Psyche: Um, sorry to disturb you two but Lady Juno's mood seems to be growing foul.
The two glance toward a rather irritated Hera.
Zeus: Forget I said anything.
Cupid: Already did.
Instructor: Okay, let’s begin the sparring match.
At the instructor’s proclamation, the two groups split to opposite sides of the arena. At each side, the servants stand at the front and the masters at the back.
Instructor: All right…. Begin!
Crash!!!!
John: Amazing!
As soon as the instructor gave the signal, the servants sprang into action. The impacts from their fighting causes the entire arena to shake.
Instructor: This is what a fight between servants is like.
The fight is split into three sections. One of these is Britomart facing Yamato. Each of their strikes is so fast that they can barely be perceived. After a flurry of blows, they distance themselves from each other.
Britomart: Impressive. Few have every withstood my lance, Artegall, as you have.
At Britomart’s words, Yamato merely smiles and nods. The next instant, the two are clashing again.
At another section of the arena, Noah is facing off against Alice.
Alice: You must hurry or the Queen will cut off you head, hehe.
From Noah's point of view, the world has been twisted into a strange forest with doors everywhere and playing cards with weapons approaching him.
Noah: You use illusions to fight it seems. No matter.
Noah raises his staff and slams it down against the ground. In that instance, the space behind him warps and what appears is a wooded ramp. Out of the ramp, animals such as elephants and lions swarm out and charge towards Alice.
Mark: Ha! Now do you think my servant is useless?!
Chris: That’s pretty cool… but he’s still an old man.
Meanwhile, at another part of the arena. Zeus is hurling thunderbolts at Cupid while Cupid fires arrows back. Psyche is standing to the side as she lacks any combat ability and Hera is….
Crash!!!!!
Zeus: Hera!!! Eros is over there! Stop attacking me!
Hera: Oh my! I’m sorry. My hand must have slipped.
Hera is attacking both Cupid and Zeus, much to Zeus’s displeasure.
Hera: If you just stayed still, this would be so much easier…
Zeus: You’ve got to be kidding me!!!
The fighting continues like this for a while. Neither side able to overtake the other...
Eventually the Instructor calls an end to the match.
Instructor: Good job everyone! I think with more practice, this team has a good chance of winning the tournament. So I expected all of you to work hard!
Everyone: Yes, Sir!
Author’s Notes:
Here is the last story of my storybook. There was a lot of things I wanted to have in this story but couldn’t because of word limits. So, I hope everyone finds what made the cut to be interesting. First up is the actual training arena. I thought modeling it after the Roman Coliseum would give a good idea of how it’s laid out. I cut out the explanation on how it was created from the story, so to paraphrase, it’s made from a special magical field and isn’t the actual Coliseum. Moving on, since I didn’t get to explore the interactions of Zeus and Hera much in the last story, I made that a more focal point in this story. Their interactions are pretty different from what you would expect from gods but I thought this depiction of them would be entertaining. Next, I wanted to introduce the other three members of the team mentioned back at the beginning of the storybook. I didn’t want to go too far into these characters, so I only gave a brief introduction of them. For their servants, I didn’t want to come up with three new Heroic Spirits because that would have taken way too much space, so I choose three from my storytellings. If you would like to read more about my depiction of these characters you can find the links in the bibliography. Do note that in the storytellings they were all summoned by the same guy so I changed that to fit the storybook.
