Instructor: Let’s see, how about we have Chris go first?
Chris: Alright! Let’s do this!
Chris quickly walks up to the summoning circle, brimming with confidence. Being the oldest of the four at the age of 24, standing six feet tall with a muscular build, short black hair, and a handsome face, Chris has the appearance of maturity. This is not the case though. He is the most immature of the group and is always rashly rushing into things.
Instructor: You may begin when you’re ready.
Chris nods at the instructor’s words and begins chanting the summoning spell in an ancient language. After he speak the final verse, the circle shines brightly which temporarily blinds everyone present. After the light fades, there stands a large muscular man with white hair, a white beard, and only a robe around his waist.
Chris: Who’s this geezer supposed to be?
Servant: Impudent child! You dare call mighty Zeus, king of the gods, a geezer! I’ll have you know that I’m as spry as a newborn babe, HAHAHAHAHA!
Zeus’s loud laughter reverberates throughout the room.
Everyone present: ZEUS!?
Chris: Hey, instructor. Why is my servant Zeus? I thought you said gods couldn’t be summoned or something.
Instructor: I said they can’t normally be summoned but can be summoned through loopholes. I assume Zeus used one of these loopholes to hijack the summoning, correct?
Zeus: You got it. I just made sure I replaced whatever servant the kid would have normal summoned. Easy for a mighty god such as myself: husband of Hera, father of Heracles, lover of many, and wielder of the Aegis, HAHAHAHA.
At the back of the room, John and Mark whisper.
John: His laugh is getting annoying.
Mark: No kidding. More importantly, we now have the pressure of summoning servants that match a god.
John: I know. Way to raise the bar, Chris.
Back near the summoning circle.
Chris: Great, that explains that. But why did you want to be a servant and what class are you?
Zeus: I’m of the Archer class for my mighty thunderbolts shall strike down all. For why I wanted to be summoned, it’s so I can bring joy to all the beautiful flowers of the world —glance—.
Elizabeth: —shiver—
Zeus: Is there no greater reason!
Chris frowns and places his hand against his head.
Chris: You became a servant because you wanted to sleep with girls? Seriously? You’re a god, so why didn’t you just come down to earth in disguise like all your legends say you did?
Zeus looks troubled at this question and frowns.
Zeus: Yes, well, you see, after my last trip to earth, Hera got really angry and said that if I went to earth again to satisfy my desires she would crush my nether regions. I thought she was merely jesting but when I tried, she attacked me with a rather large mace I can only assume she got from Hephaestus. So, since then, I have been unable to sneak out of Olympus. But then I thought of something: if I was summoned as a servant then I would have a reason to go to earth. So here I am.
This time the Instructor sighs.
Instructor: Good grief. Of all the reasons to be a servant, this is his reason.
At the back of the room.
Mark: On second thought, I’m glad I wasn’t the one to summons Zeus.
John: Agreed.
Zeus: Now, on to more important matters.
Zeus walks over to Elizabeth and slicks his hair back with his hand.
Zeus: Hey there, beautiful muse. How’d you like to take a ride on my chariot?
Elizabeth frantically shakes her head no.
Elizabeth: No thanks. I’d really rather not.
Chris: I’m so going to end up in jail because of this guy.
Instructor: Okay, that’s enough. Let’s hurry up with the second summoning.
Author’s Notes:
So, the first summoned Heroic Spirit is a Divine Spirit. I knew from the start of my project I wanted to use Zeus in it. In addition, I knew I wanted to emphasize his playboy nature. So, I incorporated that into why he was summoned. The way I have things set up, Divine Spirits can’t be summoned unless they make it happen themselves. So, I thought it would be funny for him to be summoned as a servant rather than just come down to earth because his wife wouldn’t allow him to do that anymore. Next, I didn’t really go into Zeus’s history or legends because he’s pretty well known and I didn’t think it was necessary. That means there wasn’t anything for me to alter in that sense. Also, I made his class be an archer because he’s commonly seen in mythology hurling thunderbolts. I thought this was the class he had the most affinity with. Although, I also think he could be summoned as a Rider because of his chariot. Lastly, I tried to characterize the students more since they didn’t really get much attention in the introduction. This is something I’m going to try and continue with for the rest of the stories.
