When we think of Asian American and Pacific Islanders we often think of more recent immigrants, but did you know that AAPI immigrants came to America hundreds of years ago? Some Pacific Islanders were even in America thousands of years before the Europeans came. They come from hundreds of unique cultures. But of all we can say the same thing: Asian and Pacific Americans are American. Please check out some of our diverse APA heritage with your kids.

The Peabody Essex Museum has collections of Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Indian, and Asian Export Art that you can learn about online. The Yin Yu Tang, a 200 year old house, was brought over from China and set up at the museum.
The Museum of Fine Arts has an Asian arts collection.
The Sackler Museum also has an Asian art collections that you can explore online.
The Chinese Historical Society of New England is dedicated to preserving the history of Chinese immigration in New England. During non-pandemic times, they offer tours of Boston’s Chinatown.
MIT Visualizing Cultures focuses on image-driven learning. The website has links to an online curriculum focused on Japan and early modern China.
