COASTAL CELL
A coastal cell is a compartment where sediments cycle through sources, transport paths and sinks. Erosion off the cliffs and river run offs move sediment to the shore. (LibreTexts, Coastal Littoral Cells)
WAVES
Wavelength is measured from crest to crest. Here we see shallow water waves which are defined when the depth of the wave is half that of the wave length. Also tsunamis, seiche, and wind waves. Tsunamis are waves caused by plate tectonic action or landslides. Seiche waves are when strong winds blow water in an enclosed area and the water will bounce back from the other side, swashing back and forth. similar to when you are in your bath tub and you push water away from you, it will bound back (NOAA, What is a Seiche?). Regular wind waves are self explanatory and are caused by the wind disturbing the surface tension of the water (NOAA, Why Does the Ocean Have Waves?)
