The portal between islands broke a lot. The position of the camera would be behind the portal so when you looked through the portal you would actually be looking at yourself instead of at the other portals exit. It was also dramatically dropping the frame rate of the scene, as when I deleted the portal effect the frame rate went from an average of 30fps to and average of 120fps.
To fix this I decided to change the portals effect so that the player couldn't look through the portal and see the other side and instead add a new portal effect that wouldn't be so demanding on the frame rate.
