I contributed the essay "Rock River Times." It was a remembrance of Frank Schier, who founded the independent newspaper The North End Times, which later became The Rock River Times. It is an honor to appear alongside so many writers, artists, and community voices whose work reflects the history, culture, and character of Rockford. The anthology presents the city through essays, poetry, photographs, and personal narratives rather than a single historical perspective, creating a multifaceted portrait of the community.

My poem "Schizophrenia" was selected for inclusion in Thus Spake the Corpse: An Exquisite Corpse Reader, 1988–1998. The anthology preserves work first published in Exquisite Corpse, one of the most influential independent literary journals of its era, edited by Andrei Codrescu and Laura Rosenthal. The poem originally appeared in Exquisite Corpse before being reprinted in this retrospective anthology. I wrote the poem when I was eighteen and Exquisite Corpse was my first publication credit. I never even knew I was in this anthology until long after it was released.
