Community Building

As a leader in P.A.C (more information on the page named P.A.C) I have had the privilege of working with the community to create a more inclusive school society. While the work we do is amazing, the true value of our club is the lessons of togetherness, humility and action that I have gained through the years. One of the most important ideas to our society is togetherness. When we separate as people, we are inherently less likely to succeed. However when people band together their chance of success increases exponentially. We are stronger together. Being together in this sense gives us a cushion to fall back on. We know that there is a group out there that will always accept us, so it is easier for us to put our true selves out there. Community work has helped me to find this group and become a person who is true to themselves no matter what. Humility is another huge portion of community building. I have always grown up in a well off household. For that I am truly grateful. I didn't know how lucky I was until I put myself in a position helping those who didn't have as much. Through this personal experience I have gained not only an understanding of circumstance, but also an extreme gratefulness for the things that have been provided for me. Action is the final pillar of values that have been taught to me by community building. I have learned the value of taking action, when something is off. I will always try my to take action even if it is hard. The culmination of my community building experience has given me some of the most essential skills in order to survive through todays society.Â
