Learning this week
In Math, we reviewed what we learned in Chapter 1, and took a test. We started Chapter 2- Addition. We learned how to add using 2 or more addends, find missing addends using subtraction, and adding without regrouping.
In LA, we read a short narrative non-fiction piece called "Room to Grow," and identified characteristics of an autobiography. We used sequence words such as first, then, next, finally, etc. to understand how a story is organized.
In Religion, we read about Jesus's gift of the Holy Spirit, his Ascension, and the Pentecost. We attended class Mass and had our Church Music special.
In Social Studies, we continued to learn about communities and how they can be similar and different. We also learned about goods and services.
In Science, we started learning about the parts of a plant and its function. We took a look at live plants to identify the different parts and drew a diagram to show photosynthesis works.
In Writing, we reviewed essential cursive strokes such as the uphill, over hill, and side stroke.
In Grammar, we took our Chapter 1 test and started Chapter 2- Nouns. We learned about proper, common, singular, and plural nouns

Learning this week
In Math, we reviewed the worth of coins and bills, learned how to make and count change. We learned how to compare and round money to the nearest dollar.
In LA, we worked on editing our writing about Gray the Dreamer and published our final drafts.
In Religion, we read about Jesus' public ministry, His crucifixion and ressurection, and the gift of Faith.
In Social Studies, we continued to study communities and regions.
In Science, we learned about cells, microorganisms, and pollution.
In Writing, we reviwed D'Nelian letters "J, R, N, M, P, Q, V, Z, and X."
In Grammar, we learned to identify the complete and simple subject, and the complete and simple predicate of a sentence.
Other Notes
Learning this week
In Math, we learned place value up to the hundred thoudands and how read such large numbers. We worked on comparing and ordering large numbers and rounding to the nearest thousand.
In LA, we continued to read the narrative non-fiction, "Gary the Dreamer". We used the text to write about Gary's life events in chronolgical order.
In Religion, we went to Mass, had our first Church Music, and read about the life of Jesus from birth, boyhood, and his baptisim.
In Social Studies, we discussed social studies vocabulary and geography terms.
In Science, we learned about living vs. non living things
In Writing, we reviwed D'Nelian letters "A, D, O, G, E, C, S, F, B, and L."
In Grammar, we learned about different kinds of sentences. Such as telling, commands, questions, and exclamitory.
