Edinburgh, as the capital of Scotland, is proud to host a number of world-class artistic and cultural events. Through a consolidated (not necessarily perfect) system of arts funding and cultural and social initiatives, the country has taken the lead on issues such as inclusion and education. Recently, Scotland was the first country to provide free female sanitary products in all public institutions, to incorporate gender and LGBT+ issues in school education, along with a legislation sanctioning dating violence. By contrast, in Chile, these issues are only recently being discussed with great controversy by the media, politicians, and society in general. At the same time, the role of the arts and humanities within the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation is under discussion. Furthermore, the newly created Ministry of Arts, Culture, and Heritage does not have a significant budgetary contribution in the area of research and training scholarships, in which the humanities are excluded. Based on this, we invite Chilean and foreign researchers, who observe the different aspects of Chilean art, culture, and society, to present their papers focused (not restricted) on the following topics:

  • The role of public and private institutions in the development of art, culture, and humanities.
  • Artistic education, interdisciplinarity, and new technologies.
  • Active and passive audiences in museums, galleries, and cultural events.
  • Precarization of employment in artistic and cultural institutions.
  • Cultural policies, public funds and the financing of arts and culture.
  • Ministry of Science and the Role of the Arts and Humanities.
  • Inclusion policies in Art and Culture.
  • Culture, tradition and tangible and intangible heritage.
  • Universities and research in Art and Humanities.
  • Art, Culture and Humanities in Mass Media.
  • Art, Internet, and new media.
  • Art, gender and society.
  • Public policies on gender and sexual minorities.
  • Feminism, art, and culture.
  • Studies focus artists, authors or themes in particular.
