On January 15, 2025, Co-Founder and Project Coordinator, Katy Whitfield and Co-Founder Ian Da Silva received the prestigious, King Charles III Coronation Medal at the Grenadier Restaurant in High Park. The two were nominated by Justice Minister and Attorney General of Canada, the Honourable Arif Virani, Member of Parliament for Parkdale High Park.
They received the medals along with 34 other inspiring Torontonians in our riding of Parkdale-High Park from MP Virani, on behalf of His Majesty, King Charles III and Her Excellency, Governor General of Canada, Mary Simon. The medal recognizes service to one’s community and we received it in recognition of the work they have done for the “They walked these streets…” Remembrance project. Whitfield and Da Silva are both humbled and grateful for this prestigious recognition. They are so happy to share this medal with fellow recipients and dear friend, Michael Di Tomaso who also received this award. Members of both of their families were in attendance of the celebration. We thank our community for their ongoing support and engagement with our project.
